Hey Folks -

I wanted to put a bug in everyone's ear about one of the upcoming
competitions at ITEC 2000.

In addition to the "standard" competitions - solo, mock audition, etc.,
this year will feature the "Street Musicians Competition" as well.

Started at the 1997 ITEC in Italy, this competition focuses on the
"non-standard", non-classical side of tuba and euph playing.

It can be almost anything: solo performance, small ensembles, whatever
floats your boat.

Repertoire can be even more varied: funk, rock, jazz, progressive, etc.
If you can conceive it, you can play it.

The point of this competition is to see how well the performer(s)
interact with the public audience. The competition will take place
"on the street" in the public eye. The judging panel, with yours
truly acting as the Chair, will not only judge on how well you
play, but how well you communicate to the "non-classical" public.

The deadline for this competition, as well as all of the others, is
01 February 2000.
