I notice whenever I have to double on an instrument, I try to use two completly different embouchures (sp?). Tuba has always been my main instrument and when I'm asked to play bass bone or euphonium and even the occasional tenor trombone, I try to practice the doubling instrument a little more than I do tuba. I just played in a musical and was asked to play bass bone. I haven't had the need to play bass bone for months now, so I neglected my tuba, which is sad to say and played bass trombone solely for about a week. I did this because I know when I go back to tuba the change back to the larger mouthpiece will be easy. Hence the two different embouchures. I hope my life saga is of some help.
