You should get the horn that lets you get the sound you want. It's that simple.

When I decided it was time to start playing again after 15 years I figured the best approach was to find somewhere where I could play a bunch of different horns. It turns out that this was exactly the right move. I didn't really care whether I got a BBb or CC horn. After trying most of the horns I reached a point where I couldn't decide between the 186 BBb and a 186 CC. The BBb was easier to play (less slide pulling) but the CC had a slightly better sound. My decision was made easily when the salesperson went to the warehouse and brought back another horn to try. This one was easily head and shoulders above both horns. It just happened to be BBb. If it had been a CC I would have been just as happy.

Someone here once said that their horn has rotary valves because that's what was on the horn he liked. The same should be said of CC vs. BBb.
