Mel Culbertson was at Tubamania in Sydney. He brought with him a prototype tuba called the "Titan". I think Mel has a thing with Greek/Roman mythology! I wondered whether the "Titan" and "Mercury" are actually the same horn, only with Mel getting cold feet and deciding that Titan is a cooler name for a tuba! Anyhow, here are the specs for the Titan (don't quote me on these):

4/4 size F
4 piston valves (19mm bore?)
2 rotary valves for the left hand positioned AFTER the pistons (21mm bore?)
The rotars are connected to the keys by a really long rod mechanism.
Bell size and throat size, at a guess, around the same size as a PT15, perhaps slightly bigger.

I had a blow on it and it played pretty nicely. Nice core to the sound and good response.
