I would like to thank everyone who has responded to my inquiry about a possible purchase of a CC tuba for a student of mine at the University of Mississippi.

One of the many CC tubas that I have owned over the years was a Miraphone 188. It possibly was just about the best-in-tune medium large CC that I have ever played. (I never felt obligated to move any slides around at all when I played it.) If it hadn't been just a bit too stuffy (with the "slotting" a little "too narrow" in the low range) to make pieces like "Fountains" pop out like I needed them to, I might still own it.

Anyway, one of those used in good shape would probably be a great tuba for this student, especially considering the limits of the amount of money he has to work with. (Either the bronzy one or the regular brass one would be great.)

Anybody got a spare one of these 188's layin' around? (' still open to considering other offers, and some interesting ones have been made.)

Again, I thank all of you very much.

-Joe
