That's right, I still use the Wenger tuba rest that I have attached to a standard piano bench for situations when the orchestra has time to set up "our" equipment. There are still times when the Philharmonic isn't able to provide me with my bench, like when we do a quintet concert or if the orchestra is split between two different simultaneous concert sets like opera and pops. But this is NOT an easily portable situation. Unless you feel like carrying around a 50+ pound piano bench with a big metal bracket attached to one side! This setup is much more stable than any stand I know of but it isn't practical to transport around. In fact, the equipment manager for the Philharmonic is the one that handles moving it from place to place along with all the other equipment and instruments we use. I don't think I would ever use this setup if I had to move it around myself...
