I don't have much to add to the above posts about this, but I did have a nasty tear of some sort in my lip muscle tissue about 7 years ago which resulted in some scar tissue and a lot of pain.
I don't know anything about the medical aspects of the lump, but if you experience any pain due to scar tissue, please feel free to drop me a line if you want to discuss it at all. I developed/discovered some really good exercises to help this sort of thing, and my playing now is miles better than it was before the accident.
