Steve, since you bring up constricting air...
That is something I had the hardest time w/ in high school (and occassionally even today)! The thing is, I knew better, but it was just an automatic reaction for me to tighten up my throat a great deal. I really had to work on concentrating on NOT constricting to get away from it. But when I finally got it down (almost, anyways) it made a world of difference.
