I have known people who have had cysts removed with no long term problems. I had an accident a few years ago where I put a tooth into my bottom lip and had a lump that lasted a couple of months, but the scar eventually disappeared 99%. If you have to have your lip cut into, you should definitely have a plastic surgeon do it, because their whole job and training is in avoiding scars, and they are probably much better at that than other doctors.
