I play my CC 4/4 DS in a wind Ensemble with three other tubas -- a St. Pete and a Yamaha BBb -- and it projects really well. If you're looking for a really dark sound, you're probably not going to find it in the Kalison, at least I haven't. For projection, though, I find it hard to beat.

About volume from the horn, the lower register can get a little edgy if you let it, but overall it gets a good solid FF, not a like a 5/4 though. I haven't played in an orchestra, yet, though I have had the opportunity, but I would imagine it would project well but not get the "big" sound needed on some works.

I haven't played on the Pro 2000, but I have asked around and here they really can't stack up to other 5/4's. They just don't put out the amount of sound that the others like Rudy and Meinl Weston, etc. Requires too much work for the amount of sound, BUT, that was just a couple of peoples' opinion.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck,
Jason
