Bringing up the issue of price.. I have played on a Cerveny for several years. I'm not sure what they run these days, but when I got mine (as a Christmas gift from my mom... how cool is she?!) i know they got quite a deal. (Less than your $6000 cap for sure).

While it's not a horn you mentioned, you may want to try it out if you haven't already. I've found it to be very flexible between large wind ensembles, quintets/brass ensembles, and medium sized local orchestras.

As mentioned countless times before, make sure that the tuba you pick is a good match for you. Sometimes 'top of the line' instruments aren't what you need/want.
