I use a book called "Patterns For Jazz" by Jerry Coker, Jimmy Casale, Gary Campbell, and Jerry Greene. The bass clef edition is really aimed at trombone and string bass
so you have to bring some parts down an octave, but it's mostly improv anyway
so this isn't a big deal (this book requires that you know a fair amount of
theory).
Also, I like to sit around sometimes and just play whatever comes to mind
without any chord changes or accompaniment because I think the hardest part
of learning to improvise is being able to trust your spontaneity and keep
going.
