A couple of suggestions. First, check with a tuner to see if you are flat on those two pitches. If your horn is quite flat, that can make you crack a lot because you are fighting to pull the pitch up before the note ever speaks and may not be realizing it. The second thing to try is buzzing. Make sure you are buzzing right in the center of the pitch. A crack or chip is often the horn fighting the buzz to find a pitch close to your buzz. The more accurate the buzz, the better the attack.
