In my humble opinion Arnold Jacobs is the best orchestral tubist of all time and Gene Pokory is the best around now. I don't mean to slight any of the other wonderful tubists out there, just being in a professional orchestra puts them into a high category as players.

Why Jacobs and Pokorny?
Those two can really crank out the sound when needed and it remains a great sound, they also have incredible skills in the technical and lyrical aspects. I also believe that both have made contributions to the tuba world as teachers and as people to listen to as examples of extremely good tuba playing.

Just my thoughts,
T. J. Ricer
