I used to put my Willson euphonium in the tub with enough liquid dish detergent to make some suds and let her soak for an hour or so. I never used an abrasive type soap.....I'd turn on the shower and rinse it off and soaked the valves and springs seperately, each in its own large cup of soapy warm water....rinse good and oil them up...my tuba is about due now that you mention it.....
