I think "oom-pah" has the same relation to tuba as Kenny G. has to the sax. I play in a professional tuba quartet at Disney World and people who may have no clue what a tuba is will look at me and sing "oom-pah", without me even playing a note. The "oom-pah" is probably the most recognized idea in music. So go ahead, and be proud of your "oom-pah".
