Funny you should ask that. I began much like everyone else, coereced into switching in jr. high. What is interesting is why I should come back to it after a 25 year hiatus. I quit when I dropped out of college (tuba scholarship). I have been a professional and semi-professional rock guitarist during that time. I am quite adept at "pouring my heart out & expressing myself" on that instrument. I also have a midi setup that I compose with, and use as a back-up band...So it is not for the lack of a creative outlet.
Why , then? for the money? attention? groupies?(Ha!) to recapture some lost youth?
nope.
Why start over again, at square one, & spend the last year and a half sounding like a beginner again- practicing scales, long tones,& flexability exercises; with no hope of recouping the hard earned cash I shelled out for my tubas?

Simply for the love of the instrument.
