From the experience I have had with a Chrome plated mouthpeice, DON'T.

The Chrome plating gives a very sticky feel when wet. After a month of use it starts to ware and pit. At that point a light rash will occur above and below the lips.

There is no difference in the sound.

If there was no difference in the feel and longevity of a chrome mouthpiece the market would be flooded with them, as it is cheaper to produce.
