It's up to the individual. If you put in the time, you'll be able to reap the rewards. If you play one for 364 days, and the other for 1, you won't accomplish much on the secondary instrument.
You won't know if it's a good idea for YOU until YOU try it. No one can tell you what will affect YOU. 99.9% of the population may say or do something, but remember that there is ALWAYS a chance that you're the exception.
