I would highly recommend the BOA Band Symposium at Illinois State University. When I went there as a high schooler "back in the day" I had a fresh-out-of-the-Marines Pat Sheridan as my instructor and Johann de Meij as my conductor...AWESOME! Last year, my lead euphonium student went and played under the baton of Robert W. Smith and the concert was very enjoyable.

This year, one of the performing groups is the Saitama Sakae Wind Orchestra. Talk about a good wind sound...wow! In the past, some of the trombone instructors have been Gene Watts (from the Canadian Brass) and Stepen Parsons, formerly of the Army Field Band and presently of the Illinois Symphony.

In addition, it is a great all-around camp for high schoolers to attend. It is a very enjoyable experience.

Good luck,
JON MEYER
