The pistons also don't seem to have much longer of a throw than any other regular piston tubas. If your Conn sousie is the big 20K with the short throw valves, then you'll notice the difference. The button arrangement is pretty darn good, though, and you can always have extenders made to bring them closer together (I knew a professor who had some made from a guitar pickguard for his Besson Eb).

I bought my silver VMI 3302 back in '98 for $5600, and thought it was a good deal for how it performed. I'd say the one you're looking at (assuming you still are) is very fairly priced.
