If it's one the Conns from the old days of the Sousa Band, it's big. In 1969 I had the opportunity to speak with William Bell about those horns (he played one on the Sousa Band). I remarked something to the effect that they looked awfully big and hard to fill. He replied that they were, but for "him" - meaning Sousa, of course - they did it.

I have seen raincatchers of 1920s vintage that pretty much the same scale of horn as the 36K. I don't think they changed that much on them to make the bell front models.
