I've played old Cervenys that played bad, but I've played more new ones I wouldn't give you $2 for. Find one with the old style spatulas, and then your chances of falling in love are much better.
Piggies can be really fine tubas, especially for quintets. I've played one in an orchestra, and its fine for all but the most bombastic of pieces.
