I've flown many times with my euphonium aboard Delta. I've never had problems with Delta's baggage handling and I have yet to have instrument damaged aboard one of their planes. However, their claim limit is $2500. Frightenigly enough, Delta's policy is one of the better ones that I've read about. As far as waivers, I don't remember what exactly they said. If I'm not mistaken, it was just holding the airline to $2500 in damages, not a piece of paper absolving them of responsibility. Just read before signing the dotted line to make sure. Hope this helps!
