From the listing, the shop put it up for a quick auction within hours of receiving it at a price far below its fair-market value. Does this sound like due dilligence on the part of the pawnbroker? Did he even try to verify that the horn wasn't stolen? Or did he just want to move the horn quickly enough so that he wouldn't have it when the police came calling?

Maybe the best approach on the part of the victim is to inform his insurance company of the loss (the horn was stolen from his house) and the tuba's whereabouts and let the corporate suits do what they're paid to do.

But since the eBay seller is selling stolen property, it needs to be reported to eBay if for no other purpose than to make the seller be a little more careful in the future.
