To offer a different view point - I recently purchased a tuba (Chinese copy of a Miraphone) that plays beautifully - as tested and admitted to by my fellow tubists (one who owns a 186 4U). Generally speaking, quality (lacquer, etc.) is not as good, and neither is mine, but for the price and the way it plays, I got an excellent value. Really, the main thing is to try it out (perhaps in the presence of a more experienced ear/eye). E-mail me if you want further info.
