Having a sony would work fine, in MY OPINION. So take it for what it is, MY OPINION. I personally have the N10, with a sound core mic. it works really great. There is a level meter on the display, and the process of changing from high sensitivity to low takes all of 3 seconds. On the high sensitivity, you can hear changes in recording if it gets too loud, but that is fixable, and not that noticable. You DO have to know where options are in the menu, but that's because there are so many things you can do with it. It only takes a few minutes of playing with it to figure them out, and there is a diagram in the instructions that explains everything easily. Also, with it being Sony, having work done/getting help with it is easy. But, that's just what I have. Make sure you look at EVERYTHING before you buy. Try out stuff before you buy if possible to find out what YOU like.
