FWIW, you may want to try a large, V cup (helleberg style) mouthpiece on your 621 F. They will never have a HUGE sound, but can be made to sound very CC like in the lower register with the right mouthpiece. A shallow C cup mouthpiece like the one that comes with it makes the horn very bright.
Perhaps a slower-air / more relaxed approach to the low register will also take some more of the bark out. While the 621 admittedly sounds a little "vanilla," it can go from Bark Vanilla to Dark Vanilla depending on airspeed / air intensity.
