It really depends on your playing style though. What works for one person, may or may not work for someone else. I've heard some players sound a little bright on the 822's. But Charlie and also Randy Montgomery, another incredible player, sound very dark and CC tuba like on them. I'd see if you could get your hands on both, somehow, try them in your quintet and have someone, or a few people, listen from the audience perspective. Especially another tuba player, if possible. See what horn makes your group sound the best.
