If you have a dent in a relatively wide tube (say 1 1/2 inches and larger) that is so severe it's liable to significantly affect the intonation/playability (1/2 the diameter of the tubing closed off as a rule of thumb for "you need to address this" though lesser amounts may also have a noticeable effect and anything has some effect (countless strings on that)) the pops a dent will work to reduce the dent. Unless it's a really creaseless dent you'll still have a cosmetically botched appearance. So if it's a junker with a semi crushed bow this'll render it more playable. If its a relatively nice looking horn that plays fine but has a dent or ding you want taken out you're apt to be badly disappointed. You could blow several hundred on a UMI Dent Eraser which can have pretty good functional and cosmetic results- but even that takes a bit of practice to really hit close to the mark-
