I agree that the bell and branches of the Jupiter would look completely natural with a rotary valve section. So much goes into the sound of an instrument that it's hard to tell the effects of just, say, the bell, or the leadpipe, on the overall result.

Chuck and I were doing some thinking about the York Masters, and I think we've just about decided that one of those would look completely natural with a rotary valve section and a Miraphone 186 bell. It also has, to my Holton-influenced ears, an in-between sound.
