I bought a Conn 48H trombone in a busted-up aftermarket case. The case was inadequate to the task, but even a cheap replacement cost more than I paid for the instrument.
So I bought a Conn Director on eBay for $25 that looked like it was in a decent case. I use the case for the 48H, and the Director for solder practice.
