Please correct (I'm sure someone will) my metallurgy. Gold brass is a different alloy from the standard yellow brass. I think gold brass has more copper in the mix, probably making it softer, sometimes more expensive, occasionally more desirable tonally (depending on who's doing the playing or listening). Both metal alloys are usually lacquered.
