You can try dryer sheets, lysol, and other odor masking techniques, but lets face it. You ain’t gonna get rid of that smell. You have a living organism in your case. It’s not just laying there. Its inside the wood and material.

You can kill it by using extremes. I have used everything from sun lamps, to sticking it out in my garage for days, in below zero weather. The smell always comes back.

I’ve talked to local music stores that deal in used instruments. It’s the bane of them all. They can hide the odor for a while to make a sale. But the mold is always there. Kind of like the Energizer bunny. It just keeps going and going...........
