You might also want to consider moving the hole slightly off center toward the direction from which the valve is moving. (I.e. if your valve is rotating CCW as viewed from the top, you might want to choose a slight CW offset from center, in between the two pieces of tubing where this is typically drilled. This will ensure a little extra amount of the edge of the valve actually moves past the hole, to ensure it's covered when the valve is actuated. I believe my vent hole is exactly in the middle of the available space, and although the rotor edge does completely cover it, the amount of metal that moves over/past the hole does not overlap the hole by much -- perhaps by the diamter of the hole. But it seems that there's no reason not to shift the hole slightly to ensure plenty of valve rotor metal covers it up.

Tech gurus, feel free to correct this opinion if it's wrong for some reason.
