Pyware and several other companies make music specific cataloging software. Why? Well, there is always a sucker out there.
I maintain a school band and orchestra library of several thousand titles in Microsoft Works, which is pretty low end as far at database technology goes. Really, any database or spreadsheet would work as well as any "music" specific cataloging software.
