The new Conns are great horn. I've had mine for almost 2 years, and I haven't found another horn that I would rather have, well, maybe this PT-6 that somebody else let me play. The Conn's get a nice, fat sound, and can be used for larger ensembles. Don't let the small size of the horn fool you, it plays HUGE.
If you are looking for something in around the 4-5K price range, a couple of good horns to look at are the Miraphones. It's hard to go wrong with a 186 of 188.
