I do. I play a B&S PT-10. It belongs to the school. If I had a preference, I would definitely play a piston-valved instrument. I plan on getting a Meinl Weston 45 SLP soon enough. Oh well. Dreams...
But, I do use it in our quintet: we're working on the Alvin Etler right now, and it is a B**CH! The horn does have its idiosyncracies, but it does sound good even in the low register. You just have to learn to play in that range with that type of horn.
