For a small F tuba, I agree completely with what you say. But there are larger rotary F tubas that have a solid low register that doesn't require so much special consideration, such as the Willson rotary model, the Miraphone 181, and the Rudy 5/4. It takes really strong chops to keep the low end of the 182 sounding like the high end. The little Yamaha is more forgiving.
