Removing a bottom bow, de-denting the bow and 4th branch, re-rounding the ferrules, re-shaping the bow and re-installing it is a routine repair here. As said elsewhere, I wouldn't suggest pressing the issue with a repair tech that doesn't want to do it. There should be a repair tech closer to you than 3,000 miles (!) that can do the job.

On some instruments, the lacquer will burn, but there are techniques to really minimize this. Plus, cleaning up and spot-lacquering repaired joints is time-consuming, but not rocket science.
