He's right. When I got my horn, I took it to Dave Zerkel to play test it because he would know better than I would and that was probably the second thing he played on it. My horn has "one as good as he's seen" as he put it, but many of them are exeptionally bad. I would suggest using a shallower mouthpiece or just simply keep at it with the slide pulling and alternating fingerings.
Congrats on playing Romanza! That's a chop killer. I'll save that movement for when/if I get an F tuba. Let me know when you are playing it and I'll be sure to come hear it.
