Somewhat "sweeter" sound than the top action. The marketing hype told it had less resistance also, should freer blowing in the lower register. But IMO there's no discernable difference, very much the same as the 994. And the 993 front action is VERY awkward to hold. Probably Bessons worst construction ergonomically-wise. Stay away! Go with a top action or look into other brands. I sold my 994GS (top action) because my back didn't like it at all. Got a B&S 5 valver with leadpipe custom ordered to fit me perfectly. Belive me: It makes a whole lot of difference to be able to hold a horn in a proper way.
