From your description, I think my buttons are the same as yours and I've always liked the way they feel. I play with my fingers arched a bit, so they don't really touch the edge of the button.
I'm guessing you are playing with your fingers held more flat or straight than mine. I suppose as Art mentioned you could file the edge of the button, just where your finger touches, if you are otherwise satisfied with your horn and plan to keep it?
