I have played Symph Fantastique a couple of times. Both times I played the first part. First time on a 5/4 CC. It was a pig, too heavy, too clumsy. Second time on a BEsson 983 EEb. What a difference, the lighter sound balanced great with my collegue on a BBb BAT, and was a more enjoyable performance.
the two tuba parts are scored differently, so make sure your MD is aware that with just one of you, he will be missing a part.
Lastly and most important of all, Take a book for the first 3 movements
