The earlier post likening the double tuba to a double (French) horn, pretty well defines a true double tuba. All that tubing makes for a pretty unwieldy instrument. From my understanding, design efforts have primarily encountered two difficulties: tuning and weight.
And Rick, if your new Holton is taking up too much of your tuba playing time, I know someone who could give your F the proper amount of attention...
