I just got to thinking, and wondered if there was any practical use for a Thayer valve setup on a tuba instead of the conventional rotary valve. The economics would be difficult to justify, but how would something like this affect the playing of the instrument? I know about the Willson Rotax rotors, but I was trying to see if the uses of these things were limited to trombones.
