The 822 is a big horn. I really like them, myself. However, if you're trying to do a lot of high stuff on it, get yourself a true Eb/F moutpiece. If you're treating your 822 as a true F tuba, you need to compensate for its largeness. I like the Mirafone "Winston Morris" model. It's rather shallow with a relatively small throat. However, it's slightly wider than most Helleberg's, yet it's not as wide as, let's say, an old Mirafone C3. The width makes it easier for me to get around in the low range, and to leap about from top to bottom. Personally, I don't like playing narrow funnel m.p.'s., but that's just me.
