interesting, and consistent with the change that work hardening produced in my horn's
sound. Either annealing or a new bell are in order.

The rest of the article goes on to describe the affects of lacquer (similar to work-hardening: both darken the sound), and the way that intonation problems can be corrected
by changes in tubing taper of a few thousandths of an inch at the right places. The
problem being, unless you have a lab equipped like Schilke's was, finding the right places
is pure guesswork.
