I have a 191 in gold brass that came from the factory with the bell crushed. It was rolled out by a good brass repairman and you can barely see the scaring. Gold brass hides it a little better than yellow, just slightly. You can still see it.
But
It did not affect the playing ability of this tuba and it is a very very good 1915Vin gold brass and I would not put a new bell on it for anything.
Get it cheap and roll it out for less than probably $150 to $200.
