It could be your vocal cords producing the sound. Some students growl or sing while they play, probably because (unconsciously) the extra vibration helps the lips to start vibrating. I've worked with some students who did exactly that, and it's kind of hard to stop it when you're used to it. Just try to be aware of the possibility. One thing that may help is to try multiphonics - singing a note while you play - consciously, and once you learn to control it, you can stop it when you don't mean to.
